Testing for the scoreboard, not the spec sheet

PC Shooter was founded in 2014 by competitive players who were tired of hardware reviews built for everything except the thing they actually did: play shooters at a ranked level. Generalist reviews measured average frames per second; ranked play punishes the 1% low, the sensor glitch on a fast flick, and the monitor that ghosts during a smoke execute. We built the review desk that tests the way shooters are actually played.

How we test

Every product passes through the same methodology before a word is written:

  • Game-specific benchmarks: frame data captured in the shooters people compete in — round-based scenarios, utility-heavy fights, and worst-case 1% lows, not cherry-picked averages.
  • Peripheral testing under competitive load: mice measured for sensor behavior on fast flicks, click latency, and weight balance; keyboards for actuation consistency; headsets for the audio cues that actually matter.
  • Monitor testing for motion clarity, not marketing contrast ratios — because peeking advantage is a visual artifact.
  • Long-term follow-ups: reviewers go back to gear after months of ranked play and update verdicts when the honeymoon ends.

Our standards

We buy or clearly label every unit; we publish our methodology and our raw frame logs; and affiliate revenue never decides a verdict — several of our most-linked reviews recommend gear we make nothing from. Our audience is competitive-minded players from casual ranked grinders to semi-pros.

Your next rank should not be bottlenecked by a mouse nobody tested under fire. PC Shooter runs the benchmarks that matter — so you can spend your money on hardware that shows up when you click.
